Author: Roger L. Conlee Title: Counterclockwise Publisher: Pale Horse Productions Reviewer: Jeff Edwards – AAA Member Counterclockwise doesn't just cross the boundaries between genres; it shatters them! I have no idea of how to classify this book. It's part military thriller, part science fiction adventure, part love story, part mystery, and part alternative history. So I think I'll just call it an amazing page-turner. Roger Conlee spins a gripping story of two alternative timelines running side-by-side. In one reality, Japan followed up the December 7th attack on Pearl Harbor with a bombing raid on Los Angeles. In the other reality (the timeline we live in), the attack on LA never happened. Two worlds and two world wars, create entirely different futures. But now those opposing realities are beginning to re-converge, with startling results. The author has crammed enough ideas into Counterclockwise for several books, but somehow the story never gets crowded, or rushed, or confusing. Against all odds, he has managed to weave all of these disparate elements into a single seamless plot. The result is a great read, and the stuff of pure human adventure. **This book just won the 2007 San Diego Book Awards for Science Fiction!!
