Title: Imperfection in a Perfect World Author: Roberto Carlos Martinez Publisher: PublishAmerica Reviewer: W. H. McDonald, Jr. – AAA Founder A Poetic & Emotional Vision of the World Poet Roberto Carlos Martinez has spilled his heart and soul on the pages of his book “Imperfection in a Perfect World.” His prose moves from the depths of his heart and will crawl across your own soul’s eye as he shares his vision of the world around him. Actually, it would be more accurate to say that he shares his views of the world that lives within him. The poet emotionally stands naked in each of his short observations of life. He seems to hide little and makes himself totally open to the prying minds and judgments of those who might read his words. His hurts and anger and disappointments and his love all show. He hides nothing. He stands tall and shows no fear of that judgment. This book of poetry is hard to ignore and it will move you. I found that his poem titled “The Light” was one of his strongest for me. I liked the choice of words when he says: “Smile when you feel angry enough to make the walls bleed. Laugh when you feel sad enough to leave it all behind. You are like the rays of the sun, for only you know your limits.” Each small poem captures something from that well of emotions and presented altogether in this book makes them have an even bigger collective impact. Moving prose by a talented young El Salvadorian poet – I would expect to see more from him over the coming years!
