Author: Joshua M. Peters & Josh R. Fansler Title: Not On My Watch Publisher: AuthorHouse Reviewer: Joe Fabel – AAA Vice President These two veteran service medics have provided to the reader with one of the most complete and readable books on the dedication and demands of the medics who are the first responders for the wounded men and women going in harm’s way. Yes, they experienced fears and demands beyond what they anticipated while still “green.” At times they questioned if they did all they could when a buddy “didn’t make it.” Over and over they reviewed their attempts while providing the needed medical procedures. They felt the stress of dealing with death. Yet, their dedication to the training received (they applied themselves in anticipation to what would be demanded) provided the mental and professional strength to treat initial wounds while preparing and transporting the injured to the nearest military hospital. Lives were saved due to their commitment to “Not On My Watch.” These authors faced the demanding physical and emotional stress that is every battle’s offering; they applied what they learned through classes as well as experience. Everything possible was done to avoid loosing a buddy “on their watch.” We need to express our gratitude to these men and women who were the first to triage our wounded service personnel, many times during the heat of battle. Their efforts made the difference when the hospital personnel received the injured.
